IPS Weld-On #3 Clear, 4oz

Use Weld-On (water consistency) acrylic cement for joining acrylic plastics, particularly when laminating multiple colored plastics together.

Materials Needed:

Weld-On #3 solvent cement
Applicator (hypodermic needle, fine brush, or other suitable applicator)
Clean, lint-free cloth or paper towel
Clamps or weights (if needed for holding parts together)

Safety Precautions:

Ventilation: Ensure you are working in a well-ventilated area or use appropriate ventilation equipment.
Protective Gear: Wear safety glasses and chemical-resistant gloves.
Fire Safety: Keep away from open flames and sources of ignition, as the solvent is highly flammable.

Preparation:

Clean Surfaces: Ensure the surfaces to be bonded are clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, and other contaminants. Use a clean, lint-free cloth or paper towel to wipe the surfaces.
Fit and Position: Dry-fit the pieces to be bonded to ensure proper alignment and fit.

Application:

Positioning: Place the pieces to be bonded in the desired position. If necessary, use clamps or weights to hold them in place.
Applying Solvent Cement:
Using the applicator, apply a thin, even layer of Weld-On #3 to one of the surfaces to be bonded.
For thin materials, apply the solvent along the edge where the parts meet (capillary action will draw the solvent into the joint).
Assembling: Quickly and carefully bring the two pieces together. Ensure they are properly aligned, as the bond forms rapidly.
Holding: Hold the pieces together for a few seconds to allow the initial bond to form. If needed, use clamps or weights to keep the pieces in place during the curing process.

Curing:

Initial Set: The initial bond will form within a few minutes. Handle the bonded pieces with care during this time.
Full Cure: Allow the bond to cure fully for 24-48 hours to achieve maximum strength.

Clean-Up:

Tools and Applicators: Clean the applicator and any tools used with an appropriate solvent, such as acetone, immediately after use.
Work Area: Ensure the work area is clean and free of any spilled solvent or debris.

Additional Tips:

Store Weld-On #3 in a cool, dry place, and keep the container tightly closed when not in use.
By following these directions, you should achieve a strong, clear bond with Weld-On #3 solvent cement.
